Though it may be surprising, the combat system does not mean just combat in Hash Rush, in-fact it covers a wide range of points such as the game AI, unit formations, special behaviors and improved animation.
Combat 3.0
So, this brings us to the latest combat system for Hash Rush — combat 3.0. As they mentioned at the start, this redesign involves a wide range of features that they identified as being vital to the development of Hash Rush.
It covers:
The second phase of resistance
Unit Formations
Unit Behavior
Improved animations
A new enemy
The Second Phase of Resistance
HashRush spoke about the phases of resistance and what they do in a past dev blog titled ‘the Crystal Scourge’ so you may want to read on that to brush up on your knowledge of this mechanic. However, the short version is that this is feature controls how the game responds to your actions as a player, and how much of a threat it sees you as.
In the past, Hash Rush only had the first phase of resistance in the game, which was the formation of the Crystal Fog and the fear mechanic. With this update, Hash Rush have introduced the second phase of resistance — the enemy will now come to you.

Fishers lurking in the swamps will now be drawn to your base
While Hash Rush won’t be disclosing just what triggers the enemy attacks, what we can tell you is that it will be linked to your progress in the game (and Hash Rush will be optimizing this throughout the alpha). This means that once you have established a presence on your planet it would be wise for you to build a barracks and maybe a watchtower (don’t forget to garrison it), as the monsters on the planet will be drawn to your base.
Unit Formations
Though this may sound small, it is actually a very important improvement. Previously, the units had a bad tendency of grouping together, making it extremely hard to know what the player had (especially when you had larger armies) and how many units were gathering from a specific resource point.
Ernacks on parade!
As you can see from the video above, now when the units move, they will do so in formation, and end their march in neat ranks.
Unit Behavior
If you’ve ever played an RTS game, you will know that basic commands such as attack-move are vital to the strategic player. With this update the monsters that inhabit your planet will now (gradually) be more aggressive and eventually launch basic attacks on your base.
In order to make these attacks more strategic, Hash Rush designed 4 new behaviors for all units.
Wreck: units with this behavior will move to the designated target point and target buildings on the way.
Hunt: units with this behavior will move to the designated target point, attacking any hostile units that they encounter on the way.
Stand Ground: this behavior tells the unit to hold its position and only attack if a hostile enters its range.
Passive: this behavior tells the unit to ignore all hostiles.
As well as being applied to monsters that will eventually attack the player’s base, the player can also assign them to their own units. Using one of these behaviors to explore and create a safe path for your works is highly recommended.
Unit Animations
If you follow Hash Rush on various social media channels, then you would have noticed that Hash Rush have released several videos showing the improved unit animations.
The improved swordsman
The improved archer
Our improvements did not end there, all of the units in Hash Rush, from the enemies to Ernack troops and regular workers received a major upgrade to their animation and how they react to what is placed in front of them.
The Terribis
The final part of this update is the release of a new monster on the surface world, the Terribis.
This giant monster poses an entirely new challenge to the player. Any units that get too close will experience an increased level of fear, whats-more is that even if the units fighting the Terribis are in the range of a light source, they will still generate fear.

Players will have to take care of the Terribis quickly, otherwise their armies may be quickly overcome with fright and be unable to fight anymore! Play Now: https://hashrush.com/
